Survive.

There is only one word that could sum up the last three days... Survive. It's been all that I could do to just survive.
On Tuesday morning I woke up in the middle of the night sicker than a dog. So sick that it was all that I could do to roll over and hit the waste basket. Turns out I was having an allergic reaction to some antibiotics I was on. You know the warning labels they hand out with new prescriptions, you could have the following side effects... blah, blah, blah. I had ALL of them! So bad that a good friend of mine, Staci, saved me by coming to get Carter at 7:45 a.m. and packing a bag for him, getting milk for him from out of the freezer, packing the portacrib and taking my little man for the day. I made it to the door to let her in and that was all I could do, there was no way I could have even lifted Carter out of his crib. She was so wonderful and selfless to spend her day, well the last three days, serving our family. Thank you Staci!
Then there was this afternoon. Carter has learned how to crawl, very exciting at first. Now I can't keep the little guy in the same spot for two seconds. Yesterday he figured out how to go from crawling to sitting on his own, also very exciting. So back to this afternoon, I needed to work on my lesson for Sunday and I thought the only safe place to put him for 15 minutes was in his crib. I left him in there happy as a bug, talking and playing. Next thing I hear, BANG, I go running into his room and there he is flat on his face, OUTSIDE of the crib on the FLOOR. How in the heck did he do that?!? He's only 7 months and I have never seen him try to pull up. So I hurried and scooped him up and held him while he screamed. I about had a heart attach. He's fine, not even a bruise, he was just scared from the fall. I mean wouldn't you? It's a long way down. So as we speak he is in the portacrib taking a nap until Mike gets back and can lower the mattress in the crib.
So until Mike gets back all I have to do is... Survive.

I'm so sorry to hear you are under the weather! Being sick is the worst when you are a mom because no one is there to take care of YOU! And to top it all off... it's busy season! I'm so, so sorry! Get well soon!

Yes, the dreaded busy season is back! And it was a real reality check being sick this time, it was the first time I was the mom and didn't have one (or Mike) to take care of me. But I have survived. Happy to say I dreamt about food last night and that is a big step. I can't wait to eat- I'm starving. :)

Man, what a rough 3 days! Hopefully, things are looking better. Carter sounds pretty active. I can't wait for Caroline to be crawling :-) It is such a bummer when we moms get sick.
